     James Douglas Douglas of Baads was born in 1793.1 He was the son of George Alexander Stoddart and unknown Bridges.2 He married, firstly, Margaret Braziere Douglas, daughter of George Douglas, in 1830.1 He married, secondly, Jane Sarah Jenkin, daughter of James Jenkin, in 1875.1
     James Douglas Douglas of Baads was baptised with the name of James Douglas Stoddart.3 In 1873 he inherited the estate of Baads from his cousin Elizabeth.1 On 1873 his name was legally changed to James Douglas Douglas of Baads.3

     Margaret Braziere Douglas and George Douglas were adopted.3 From 1830, her married name became Stoddart.
