     Lt.-Col. Penton Shakespear Lowis was born on 17 December 1870.1 He was the son of Lt.-Col. Ninian Lowis and Selina Caroline Shakespear.1 He married Marie Eliza Currie, daughter of Robert George Currie and Annie Flora MacKinnon, on 18 May 1918.2 He died on 10 October 1931 at age 60 at Ashwells, Earl's Colne, Essex, England.1
     Lt.-Col. Penton Shakespear Lowis was educated at Westward Ho Junior School, Westward Ho!, Devon, England.1 He was educated at Newton Abbot School, Newton Abbot, Devon, England.1 He was educated in 1888 at Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, Kent, England.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in 1890 in the service of the Royal Artillery.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1895.1 He fought in the North-West Frontier.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1900.1 He gained the rank of Major in 1911.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918, on the Western Front.1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1916.1 He was decorated with the award of Croix de Guerre (Belgian) in 1916.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Lieutenant-Colonel in February 1916.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1917.1 He retired from the military in 1920, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.1

     Robert George Currie was born on 4 July 1835.3 He is the son of Sir Frederick Currie, 1st Bt. and Lucy Elizabeth Bird.2 He married, firstly, Fanny Catherine Ouseley Macrae, daughter of Alexander C. Macrae, on 26 April 1866.3 He married, secondly, Annie Flora MacKinnon, daughter of A. K. MacKinnon, on 5 August 1872.3 He died on 13 June 1880 at age 44.3
     Robert George Currie was with the Bengal Civil Service.1
