Richmond Campbell Shakespear was born on 11 May 1812 at Indore, West Bengal, IndiaG.1,2 He was the son of John Talbot Shakespear and Amelia Thackeray.1 He married Marian Sophia Thompson, daughter of George Powney Thompson, on 5 March 1844 at Agra, IndiaG.1 He died on 29 October 1861 at age 49 at India.2
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 36th Native Infantry.1

     Lt.-Col. Ninian Lowis was born on 19 April 1838 at Shahabad, Bengal, India.2 He was the son of John Lowis.2 He married Selina Caroline Shakespear, daughter of Lt.-Col. Richmond Campbell Shakespear and Marian Sophia Thompson, on 30 July 1868 at Horsley, Gloucestershire, England.2 He died on 19 January 1914 at age 75 at 109 Upper Grosvenor Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, EnglandG.2,1
     He fought in the Indian Mutiny.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Bengal Staff Corps.3 He retired from the military in 1878, with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.1
