     Edith Mary Buchanan was the daughter of Andrew Buchanan.2 She married Colonel Alexander Clerk, son of Rt. Hon. Sir George Clerk of Penicuik, 6th Bt. and Maria Anne Law, on 1 December 1857.1 She died on 7 March 1904.1
     From 1 December 1857, her married name became Clerk.1

     Hugh Edward Clerk was born on 11 June 1859.1 He was the son of Colonel Alexander Clerk and Edith Mary Buchanan.2 He married Edith Elizabeth Beauchamp, daughter of Willoughby James Beauchamp, in 1885.1 He died on 17 February 1942 at age 82.1
     Hugh Edward Clerk was Chief Engineer and Joint Secretary of Madras between 1911 and 1914.1 He was with the India Public Works Department between 1911 and 1914.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1914.1

     Captain Beauchamp Clerk was born on 22 August 1886.1 He was the son of Hugh Edward Clerk and Edith Elizabeth Beauchamp.2 He died on 11 March 1915 at age 28, killed in action.1
     Captain Beauchamp Clerk fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Indian Army.1
