     Charles John Clerke was born on 8 September 1857.1 He was the son of Sir William Henry Clerke, 10th Bt. and Georgina Gosling.2 He married Augusta Laura Daniel, daughter of Reverend Henry Arthur Daniel, on 26 July 1892.1 He died on 7 November 1944 at age 87.1

     2nd Lt. Nicholas John Clerke was born on 9 March 1912.1 He was the son of Charles John Clerke and Augusta Laura Daniel.2 He died in June 1940 at age 28 at Dunkirk, France, killed in action.1
     2nd Lt. Nicholas John Clerke graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the service of the 62nd (Northumbrian) AA Brigade, Royal Artillery (Territorial Army).1
