     George Gilbert Joseph Clifford was born on 13 April 1893.1 He was the son of Charles William Clifford and Sicele Agnes Trafford.2 He married Alice Mary Calder, daughter of John Joseph Calder, on 12 May 1925.1 He died on 21 May 1940 at age 47 at France, killed on active service.1
