     In 1400 he was granted the lands of Airde, Tyrcome, Overholm, Netherholm and Dalgarnock by charter from the 9th Earl of Dunbar, and took the surname Grierson.¹ On 6 December 1408 he was granted the lands of Lag by Henry, 2nd Earl of Orkney, in exchange for an annual gift of a pair of gold suprs to be given to the Earl at Dumfries Castle.¹ In 1410 he was granted the lands of Drumjoan by Archibald, 4th Earl of Douglas [S., 1357/8].¹
