     Herbert Lister Bowman was born on 15 March 1874.1 He was the son of John Herbert Bowman and Katharine Lister.2 He married Pleasance Edith Walker, daughter of James Walker, on 28 December 1921.1 He died on 22 April 1942 at age 68.1
     Herbert Lister Bowman graduated with a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.).1 He was Waynflete Professor of Mineralogy.1 He was a Fellow at Magdalen College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1
