     Sir William Bowman, 1st Bt. was born on 20 July 1816.1 He is the son of John Eddowes Bowman and Elizabeth Eddowes.2 He married Harriet Paget, daughter of Thomas Paget, on 28 December 1842.1 He died on 29 March 1892 at age 75.1
     Sir William Bowman, 1st Bt. graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).1 Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh (F.R.C.S.E.).1 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.).1 He was Professor of Physiology at King's College London, London, England.1 He was created 1st Baronet Bowman, of Holmbury St. Mary, co. Surrey [U.K.] on 23 January 1884.1 He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.).1
