     Sir John Edmund Cradock-Hartopp, 9th Bt. was born on 8 April 1912.1 He was the son of Francis Gerald Cradock-Hartopp and Elizabeth Ada Mary Stuart.2 He married Prudence Leith-Ross, daughter of Sir Frederick William Leith-Ross, on 29 April 1953.1 He died on 7 August 1996 at age 84.1
     Sir John Edmund Cradock-Hartopp, 9th Bt. was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Leicestershire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Engineers.1 He succeeded to the title of 9th Baronet Cradock-Hartopp, of Freathby, co. Leicester [G.B., 1796] on 5 September 1949.1 He was a director of Firth Brown Tools between 1961 and 1996.1
