     Robert Gray Elphinstone was born on 6 May 1872.1 He was the son of Alexander Elphinstone of Glack and Margaret Rachel Roberts.2 He married, firstly, Marion Stewart Stewart, daughter of Thomas Stewart, on 19 April 1910.1 He married, secondly, Eleanor Sarah McTurk, daughter of George Gladstone McTurk, on 23 June 1937.1 He died on 26 February 1947 at age 74, without issue.1
