     John William Owen was born on 7 June 1917.1 He was the son of Sir John Arthur Owen, 4th Bt. and Lucy Fletcher Pilkington.2 He married Gwenllian Mary Philips, daughter of Ernest Bingley Philips, on 17 July 1963.1 He died on 11 June 1995 at age 78.1
     John William Owen was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards.1
