     Dame Bridget Horatia Richmond is the daughter of Admiral Sir Herbert William Richmond.2 She married Sir Edwin Noel August Plowden, Baron Plowden, son of Roger Herbert Plowden and Helen Haseltine, on 20 June 1933.1
     Dame Bridget Horatia Richmond was chairman of Tube Investments.1 From 20 June 1933, her married name became Plowden. As a result of her marriage, Dame Bridget Horatia Richmond was styled as Baroness Plowden on 17 February 1959. She was Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for London in 1961.1 She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Leicester University, Leicester, Leicestershire, England, in 1968.1 She was invested as a Dame Commander, Order of the British Empire (D.B.E.) in 1972.1 She was awarded the honorary degree of Master of Arts (M.A.) by Open University, England, in 1974.1 She was deputy chairman of the BBC in 1975.1 She was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) by Loughborough University of Technology, Loughborough, Leicestershire, England, in 1976.1
