     Rt. Hon. Thomas Henry Huxley was born on 4 May 1825 at Ealing, Middlesex, England.2 He married Henrietta Anne Heathorn in 1855.2 He died on 29 June 1895 at age 70 at Eastbourne, Sussex, England.2
     Rt. Hon. Thomas Henry Huxley was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) in 1851.1 He was decorated with the award of Royal Medal of the Royal Society in 1852.2 He was decorated with the award of Wollaston Medal (of the Royal Geological Society) in 1876.2 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.).1 He held the office of President of the Royal Society between 1883 and 1885.2 He was decorated with the award of Copley Medal in 1888.2 He was decorated with the award of Linnean Medal in 1890.2 He was decorated with the award of Darwin Medal in 1894.2

     Rachel Huxley was born in 1862.3 She was the daughter of Rt. Hon. Thomas Henry Huxley and Henrietta Anne Heathorn.2,3 She married, firstly, Alfred Eckersley in 1884.3 She married, secondly, Harold Shawcross, son of William Tuer Shawcross and Elizabeth Eckersley, in 1896.1 She died in 1934.3
     From 1884, her married name became Eckersley.3 From 1896, her married name became Shawcross.
