Sir William Cockburn of that Ilk, 2nd Bt. was born on 11 September 1662.1 He was the son of Sir James Cockburn of that Ilk, 1st Bt. and Grissel Hay.2 He married Helen Lermonth, daughter of Mark Lermonth.1 He died circa January 1751.1 He was buried on 10 January 1751.1
Sir William Cockburn of that Ilk, 2nd Bt. was admitted to Scots Bar in 1686 entitled to practice as a Advocate.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Cockburn [N.S., 1704] circa December 1703.1 He also had five daughters.1
