     John Colthurst was the son of John Colthurst and Eliza Purdon.2 He married, firstly, Alice Conway, daughter of James Conway and Katherine FitzGerald.1 He married, secondly, Mahetabel Wallis, daughter of William Wallis.1 He died on 12 July 1756.1
     John Colthurst held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Tallagh between 1734 and 1757.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Cork in 1738.3 He lived at Ardrum, County Cork, Ireland.1
