     Margaret Smith was born on 13 March 1803.1 She was the daughter of William Smith.1 She married Philip Grierson, son of James Grierson and Helen Morrison, on 16 December 1822 at Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 She died on 8 December 1881 at age 78 at Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1 She was also reported to have died on 15 December 1881.1 She was buried on 19 December 1881 at Dean Cemetery, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.1
     From 16 December 1822, her married name became Grierson.1
