Lt.-Col. Ponsonby Glenn Huggins was educated at Wurttemberg, Germany.3 He was educated at Switzerland.3 He was commissioned on 19 April 1876 with the rank of Lieutenant, in the service of the British Army.3 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.3 He gained the rank of on 5 November 1877 in the service of the Madras Staff Corps.3 He fought in the Afghan War between 1878 and 1879.3 He fought in the Burma Campaign between 1885 and 1889, and was mentioned in despatches.3 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1887.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 21st Madras Pioneer, Indian Army.1,3 He fought in the Bazar Valley Operations in 1897, and was mentioned in despatches.3 He fought in the Tirah Campaign between 1897 and 1898.3 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1902.3 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1909.1
