     Major Ion Melville Calvocoressi was born on 12 April 1919 at Calcutta, India.3 He was the son of Matthew John Calvocoressi and Agnes Hermione Melville.1,2 He married Katherine Kennedy, daughter of Captain Edward Coverley Kennedy and Rosalind Margaret Innes Grant, on 29 April 1947.1 He died on 7 July 2007 at age 88.4
     Major Ion Melville Calvocoressi was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.3 He was commissioned in 1940, in the service of the Scots Guards.3 He fought in the Second World War, serving in Egypt, Italy and the Far East, and was wounded in 1942.3 He was decorated with the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1942.1,3 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Scots Guards.1 He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.).1 He was a stockbroker at London, England.3 He held the office of High Sheriff of Kent between 1978 and 1979.3
