     He was with the Sudan Police Service.1

     Rear-Admiral Sir John Ralph Coote, 14th Bt. was born on 10 January 1905.1 He was the son of Sir Ralph Algernon Coote, 13th Bt. and Alice Matilda Mary Webber.2 He married Noreen Una Tighe, daughter of Wilfred Tighe, on 14 December 1927.1 He died on 23 January 1978 at age 73.1
     He was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne, Isle of Wight, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He succeeded as the 14th Baronet Coote, of Castle Cuffe, Queen's Co. [I., 1621] on 2 July 1941.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.)1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1946.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1957.1 He retired from the military in 1958, with the rank of Rear-Admiral, late of the Royal Navy.1
