Sir James Cornwallis, 4th Earl Cornwallis was born on 25 February 1742/43.1 He was the son of Sir Charles Cornwallis, 1st Earl Cornwallis and Hon. Elizabeth Townshend.2 He married Catherine Mann, daughter of Galfridus Mann, on 30 April 1771.1 He died on 20 January 1824 at age 80.1
