Major Hugh Ingoldsby Massy was born on 22 January 1853.1 He was the son of James FitzGerald Massy and Elizabeth Preston.1 He married Lucy Caroline Justice, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Henry Annesley Justice, in 1880.1 He died in 1901 at Khartoum, Sudan, from enteric fever.1
