     Algernon Edward Gilliat was born on 4 March 1866.1 He was the son of Algernon Gilliat and Lady Mary Augusta Georgiana Moore.1 He married Marjory Eva Duke, daughter of Dr. Douglas Duke, on 27 October 1904.1 He died on 21 October 1951 at age 85.1
     Algernon Edward Gilliat was educated at Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England.1 He was a director of John K. Gilliat & Company.1 He became a Master of the Merchant Taylor's Company.1
