Sir Eric Charles William Mackenzie Penn was born on 9 February 1916.1 He was the son of Captain Eric Frank Penn and Gladys Ebden.1 He married Prudence Stewart-Wilson, daughter of Aubyn Harold Raymond Wilson and Muriel Athelstan Hood Stewart-Stevens, 10th of Balnakeilly, in 1947.1 He died on 12 May 1993 at age 77.3
     Lt.-Col. Sir Eric Charles William Mackenzie Penn was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Magdalene College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.1 He gained the rank of officer in 1938 in the service of the Grenadier Guards.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was decorated with the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1944.1 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1960.1 He was Assistant Comptroller of the Lord Chamberlain's Office between 1960 and 1964.1 He held the office of Extra Equerry to HM Queen Elizabeth II in 1963.1 He was Comptroller of the Lord Chamberlain's Office between 1964 and 1981.1 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Royal Victorian Order (K.C.V.O.) in 1972.1 He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in 1980.1 He lived in 1984 at Sternfield House, Saxmundham, Suffolk, England.1
