     James Cotter was born on 4 August 1689.1 He was the son of Sir James Cotter and Hon. Eleanora Plunkett.2,1 He married Margaret Mathew, daughter of Major George Mathew and Mary Aldworth, in 1706.1 He died on 7 May 1720 at age 30, executed as a Jacobite.1
     James Cotter lived at Anngrove, County Cork, Ireland.1

     Sir James Cotter, 1st Bt. was born in 1714.3 He was the son of James Cotter and Margaret Mathew.2 He married Arabella Rogerson, daughter of Rt. Hon. John Rogerson and Elizabeth Ludlow, in 1746.3 He died on 9 June 1770.4
     Sir James Cotter, 1st Bt. held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Askeaton, County Limerick.3 He was created 1st Baronet Cotter, of Rockforest, co. Cork [Ireland] on 11 August 1763.3
