     Sir James Laurence Cotter, 2nd Bt. was born in 1748.3 He was the son of Sir James Cotter, 1st Bt. and Arabella Rogerson.2 He married, firstly, Anne Kearney, daughter of Francis Kearney.3 He married, secondly, Isabella Hingston, daughter of Reverend James Hingston.3 He died on 9 February 1829.3
     Sir James Laurence Cotter, 2nd Bt. succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Cotter, of Rockforest, co. Cork [I., 1763] on 9 June 1770.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.).3 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Mallow Regiment Militia.3
