     Reverend Joseph Rogerson Cotter was born on 9 June 1822.1 He was the son of Reverend Joseph Rogerson Cotter and Mary Purcell.2 He married, firstly, Philadelphia Louisa Hall, daughter of Thomas Hall, on 29 January 1850.1 He married, secondly, Frances Green, daughter of Hugh Green, on 8 December 1899.1 He died on 7 January 1900 at age 77.1
     Reverend Joseph Rogerson Cotter graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He was the Rector at St. Mary Magdalene, Colchester, Essex, England.1
