     John Eglinton Montgomerie was born in 1899.1 He was the son of Alexander Montgomerie and Emily Bashford.2 He married Irene Agnes Cameron, daughter of Thomas Ross Cameron, in 1921.1 He died in 1971.3

     F/Lt. Leighton John Montgomerie gained the rank of Flight Lieutenant in the service of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He was decorated with the Distinguished Flying Cross (D.F.C.).1
