     John Archdale was born on 30 December 1578.2 He was the son of Martin Archdale and Barbara Sexton.1 He married, firstly, Frances Honings, daughter of Edward Honings, on 25 January 1600/1.2 He married, secondly, Katherine Temple, daughter of Sir William Temple.3 He died on 31 August 1621 at age 42, he also had other issue who died before he did.3
     John Archdale was admitted to Gray's Inn in 1608.1 Hesettled in Ulster as an 'undertaker' after the flight of the Earls of Tyrone and Tyrconnell.1 He lived at Abbotts Hall, Darsham, Suffolk, England.1 He obtained by Letters Patent on 13 July 1612 a grant of land at Tallanagh, Lurg, County Fermanagh, Ireland, on which the old Castle Archdale was built in 1615. He also obtained lands at Drumragh, County Tyrone, and Curranlurge, County Fermanagh.1,2 He lived at Castle Archdale, County Fermanagh, Ireland.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Fermanagh in 1616.1

     Reverend Robert Archdale graduated from Christ's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1607 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He graduated from Christ's College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1611 with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was the Rector in 1627 of Trimley St. Martin, Suffolk, England.1
