John Philip Bagwell was born on 11 August 1874.1 He was the son of Richard Bagwell and Harriette Philippa Jocelyn Newton.1 He married Louisa Shaw, daughter of Major-Gen. George Shaw, on 23 January 1901.1 He died on 22 August 1946 at age 72.1
