     Florence Anna Barton was born in 1837 at Leitrim, County Leitrim, Ireland.2 She was the daughter of Lt.-Col. Hugh William Barton and Mary Caroline Johnston.1 She married Maj.-Gen. Richard William Erskine Dawson, son of Major George Thomas Dawson and Euphemia Erskine, on 13 May 1871 at Upper Norwood, Croydon, London, England, in a childless marriage.1,2 She died on 21 December 1923 at 102 Wellesley Road, Chiswick, London, England.2
     From 13 May 1871, her married name became Dawson.1
