     John Dalrymple of Dunragit was born in 1621.1 He was the son of James Dalrymple of Stair and Drummurchie and Janet Kennedy.2 He married Agnes Cathcart.1
     In 1682 he acquired Dunragit.1

     James Dalrymple of Dunragit was born on 18 October 1706.1 He was the son of James Dalrymple of Dunragit and Margaret Blair of Dunskey.2 He married Grace McDouall, daughter of Patrick McDouall of Dunragit, on 15 January 1740.1 He died on 14 May 1776 at age 69.1
     James Dalrymple of Dunragit graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).1 He had three other daughters, who all died young.1
