     Vans Hathorn of Garthland is the son of Hugh Hathorne of Castlewigg and Anne Vans.2 He married Jean Dalrymple-Hay, daughter of Sir John Dalrymple-Hay of Park Place, 1st Bt. and Susan Hay, in 1813.1
     Vans Hathorn of Garthland was also known as Vans Hathorne.2

     Jean Dalrymple-Hay was the daughter of Sir John Dalrymple-Hay of Park Place, 1st Bt. and Susan Hay.1,2 She married Vans Hathorn of Garthland, son of Hugh Hathorne of Castlewigg and Anne Vans, in 1813.2 She died in 1822.2
     From 1813, her married name became Hathorn.2

     Sir John Dalrymple-Hay of Park Place, 1st Bt. was born in 1749.1 He was the son of James Dalrymple of Dunragit and Grace McDouall.2 He married Susan Hay, daughter of unknown Hay, on 15 April 1779.1 He died on 12 May 1812.1
     Sir John Dalrymple-Hay of Park Place, 1st Bt. was baptised with the name of John Dalrymple.1 He fought in the American War of Independence.1 He gained the rank of Colonel.1 On 4 April 1798 his name was legally changed to John Dalrymple-Hay by Royal Licence.1 He was created 1st Baronet Dalrymple-Hay, of Park Place, co. Wigtown [Great Britain] on 27 April 1798.1
