Sarah Bayley is the daughter of Samuel Bayley and Esther Diggles.1 She married Cornelius Metcalfe, son of Reverend Thomas Metcalfe, in December 1773 at Collegiate Church, Manchester, Lancashire, England.1
From December 1773, her married name became Metcalfe.1 In 1793 at Rouen, France, they were arrested along with their three children, and their proerty confiscated for the benefit of the Republic.1
