Brigadier James Willcox Berridge was born on 19 November 1918.1 He is the son of Lieutenant Richard Berridge and Mary Eulalia Lesley.1 He married Baroness Prisca Isabelle Marie Josephe Huberte Ghislaine van der Straten Waillet, daughter of Baron Joseph van der Straten Waillet, on 4 October 1952.1
Brigadier James Willcox Berridge was educated at Downside School, Bath, Somerset, England.1 He graduated from Peterhouse College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1939 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He fought in the Second World War1 and in the Palestine Campaign in 1947, during which he was mentioned in despatches.1 He held the office of Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General of Canada between 1950 and 1951.1 He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1957.1 He retired from the military in 1966, with the rank of Brigadier, late of the Irish Guards.1 He lived at Carrigbyrne, Adamstown, County Wexford, Ireland,1 and at Le Pachis, Waillet, Belgium.1
