Leslie James Probyn Butler and Mary Christal Heathcoat-Amory.1 He married Pamela Pickwoad, daughter of William Alfred Pickwoad, on 23 October 1943.1 He died on 12 March 1987 at age 76.1,2 He was buried at St. Mary's Churchyard, Tiverton, Devon, England.2
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Waziristan Campaign between 1936 and 1937, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He fought in the Second World War, in the Middle East, Persia and India, and was mentioned in despatches.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the Probyn's Horse, Indian Army.1 He was Lieutenant-Colonel of the 15th/19th King's Royal Hussars.1
