     Colonel Herbert Norwood Blakeney was born on 26 April 1871.1 He was the son of Colonel Henry Blakeney and Louisa Jane Hutchinson.1 He died on 20 December 1946 at age 75, unmarried.1
     Colonel Herbert Norwood Blakeney was commissioned in 1890, in the service of the Army.1 He was invested as a Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1900.1 He fought in the Boer War, for which he was mentioned in despatches.1 He fought in the First World War, during which he was wounded. He was mentioned in despatches.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1918.1 He retired from the military in 1920, with the rank of Colonel.1
