     From 27 October 1870, her married name became Dumaresq.

     Douglas McGarel Hogg, 1st Viscount Hailsham was born on 28 February 1872.1 He was the son of Quintin Hogg and Alice Anna Graham.3,1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Brown, daughter of James Trimble Brown, on 14 August 1905.4 He married, secondly, Mildred Margaret Dew, daughter of Reverend Edward Parker Dew, on 3 January 1929.3 He died on 16 August 1950 at age 78.1
     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was with a firm of West India merchants.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1901.1 He was admitted to Lincoln's Inn in 1902 entitled to practise as a barrister.1 He was appointed King's Counsel (K.C.) in 1917.1 He held the office of Bencher of Lincoln's Inn in 1920.1 He held the office of Member of the Council of the Duchy of Cornwall between 1920 and 1922.1 He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 1922.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for East Sussex.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1922.1 He held the office of Attorney-General between 1922 and 1924.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.)
