     Jem Ramsay Couper was born on 14 November 1904.1 He was the son of James Robert Couper and Jessie Kissock.2 He married Aileen Jessie Abbott, daughter of Thomas Robert Lamb Abbott, on 14 June 1940.1 He died in 1979.1
     Jem Ramsay Couper was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Temporary Captain in 1941 in the service of the 27th Lancers.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1941 and 1945.1
