     Major John Every Couper was born on 15 November 1900.¹ He was the son of James Robert Couper and Jessie Kissock.² He married Katherine Audrey Mary Alexander, daughter of William Renfrew Alexander, on 19 April 1928.¹ He died on 8 June 1966 at age 65.¹
     Major John Every Couper was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne, Isle of Wight, England.¹ He was educated at Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, Devon, England.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Electricial and Mechanical Engineers.¹ He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1957.¹
