     Major Hon. James Archibald Crichton was born on 8 December 1877.1 He was the son of Sir John Henry Crichton, 4th Earl Erne of Crom Castle and Lady Florence Mary Cole.1 He died on 3 August 1956 at age 78, unmarried.1
     Major Hon. James Archibald Crichton fought in the Boer War between 1901 and 1902.1 He was decorated with the 1914 Star.1 He gained the rank of Frst World War in the service of the where he was mentioned in despatches and was wounded.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Rifle Brigade.1 He gained the rank of GSO(3).1 He gained the rank of Brigade Major in 1917.1 He was decorated with the Croix de Guerre.1 He was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.1
