     Richard Townsend is the son of Richard Townsend and Elizabeth Becher.1 He married Elizabeth FitzGerald, daughter of John FitzGerald, 15th Knight of Kerry and Margaret Deane, in 1750.2
     Richard Townsend held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Cork.2 He gained the rank of Colonel of Militia.2 He lived at Castletownshend, County Cork, Ireland.2 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Cork in 1753.2
