     Richard Atkinson Stoney was born on 13 May 1877.1 He was the son of Rev. Canon Robert Baker Stoney and Katherine Mabel Atkinson.1 He married Gladys Enid Figgis, daughter of Arthur Lenox Figgis, on 22 September 1915.1 He died on 2 May 1966 at age 88.1
     Richard Atkinson Stoney was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.).1 He graduated from Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, with a Master of Surgery (M.Ch.).1 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland (F.R.C.S.I.).1

     Gladys Enid Figgis was born circa 1890.1 She was the daughter of Arthur Lenox Figgis.1 She married Richard Atkinson Stoney, son of Rev. Canon Robert Baker Stoney and Katherine Mabel Atkinson, on 22 September 1915.1 She died on 13 June 1975.1
     Gladys Enid Figgis also went by the nick-name of Jim.1 From 22 September 1915, her married name became Stoney.1
