     Reverend Peter Bowlby was baptised on 13 April 1729 at St.-Mary-le-Bow, Durham, County Durham, England.1 He was the son of Thomas Bowlby and Mary Burrell.1 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Russell, daughter of Colonel Gerard Russell, on 11 June 1757 at St.-Mary-le-Bow, Durham, County Durham, England.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Fawcett, daughter of John Fawcett, on 14 December 1773.1 He died on 27 March 1806 at age 76 at Merrington, County Durham, England.1
     Reverend Peter Bowlby was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by New College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He was Clerk Registrar to the Dean and Chapter of Durham.1
