     John Bowlby was baptised on 25 July 1766.1 He was the son of Reverend Peter Bowlby and Elizabeth Russell.1 He married Sarah Elliot, daughter of John Elliot, on 15 February 1792.1 He died on 16 March 1835 at age 68.1
     John Bowlby was Registrar to the Dean and Chapter of Durham.1 He had five sons and four daughters.1
