Lady Mary Maitland is the daughter of Charles Maitland, 3rd Earl of Lauderdale.1 A contract for the marriage of Lady Mary Maitland and Charles Carnegie, 4th Earl of Southesk was signed on 15 July 1691.1

Hon. William Carnegie was the son of Robert Carnegie, 3rd Earl of Southesk and Lady Anne Hamilton.1 He was killed in 1681 at Paris, France, by Captain William Tollemache, in a duel.1
