     Sir William Dunbar of Hempriggs, 1st Bt. was the son of John Dunbar, 3rd of Hempriggs and Anne Fraser.2 He married Margaret Sinclair, daughter of Alexander Sinclair of Lathron.1 He died in 1711, without surviving male issue.1
     Sir William Dunbar of Hempriggs, 1st Bt. held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Caithness in 1678.1 He was created 1st Baronet Dunbar, of Northfield [Nova Scotia] on 10 April 1700, with a special remainder to heirs male whatsoever.1
