     Mary Elizabeth Pringle was born on 14 November 1916.1 She was the daughter of Sir Norman Robert Pringle of Stichill, 8th Bt. and Florence Madge Vaughan.2 She married, firstly, Major George Charles Anderson, son of George Wallace Anderson and Mabel Frances Mary Bailey, on 6 October 1938.1 She and Major George Charles Anderson were divorced in 1963.1 She married, secondly, Richard Anthony Mann Roberts, son of Captain R. M. Roberts, in 1963.1 She died on 31 March 1996 at age 79.1
     From 6 October 1938, her married name became Anderson. She adopted John Louis Wallace Anderson.1 From 1963, her married name became Roberts.1

     Sir Francis John Badcock Sykes, 10th Bt. usually went by his middle name of John. He was educated at Shrewsbury School, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, EnglandG.1 He graduated from Worcester College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)1 He was a practising solicitor in 1968.2 He was a partner of Townsends in 1972 at Swindon, Wiltshire, EnglandG.1 He succeeded as the 10th Baronet Sykes, of Basildon, Berks [G.B., 1781] on 19 April 1990.2 He lived in 2003 at Kingsbury Croft, Kingsbury Street, Marlborough, Wiltshire, EnglandG.1

     He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.)1 He gained the rank of Admiral of the Fleet.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.)1 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1971.2 He was Chief of the Defence Staff in 1977.4 He held the office of First Sea Lord.4
