     Brig.-Gen. James Bruce Jardine lived at Chesterknowes, Selkirk, Roxburghshire, Scotland.1 He gained the rank of Brigadier-General in the service of the 5th Lancers.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.).1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).1
