     Lt.-Cdr. John Patrick Gilmour Bryans was born in 1933.1 He is the son of Lt.-Cdr. John Reginald Bryans and Anne Margaret Gilmour.1 He married, firstly, Rosemary Ann Wheeler, daughter of G/Capt. H. G. Wheeler, in 1959.1 He and Rosemary Ann Wheeler were divorced in 1970.1 He married, secondly, Patricia Mary MacPherson, daughter of W. A. MacPherson, in 1972.1
     Lt.-Cdr. John Patrick Gilmour Bryans was invested as a Fellow, Royal Geographical Society (F.R.G.S.).1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He lived in 2003 at Hatton House, Leven, Fife, Scotland.1
